Deborah Boswell Owner

Deborah B. Boswell is a licensed and certified speech pathologist with over 25 years of clinical experience. Deborah’s specialties include fluency disorders (stuttering) and voice disorders. Her clinical work is geared towards teenagers and adults. She facilitates a monthly stuttering support group for the Birmingham area. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Auburn University and her Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Montevallo. Deborah delivers presentations around the state and region about speech-related issues. Through her company, Professional Speech Services of Alabama, she also works with business professionals to correct and improve regional and foreign accents, presentation skills, vocal delivery, listening skills and professional business communication skills.

Kerri Bailey, OTR/L
Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Kerri M. Bailey has been a licensed and certified occupational therapist since graduating from UAB in 1986. She began her career working with adults and adolescents in an in-patient rehabilitation setting. In 1992, she transitioned to school based therapy, first with the Shelby County Schools, and then with Vestavia Hills City Schools where she worked for 14 years. While at Vestavia Hills, Kerri obtained her certification in Assistive Technology and started the school system’s first assistive technology team. In March of 2000, she became a national presenter for Handwriting Without Tears and for 14 years traveled extensively training teachers, therapists, and parents in the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. She began her private practice, Ability Resources, in 2005 and joined forces with Professional Speech Services to form Child’sPlay Therapy Center in 2007. In addition to being a co-owner of the company, Kerri serves as the director for all three Child’sPlay locations. Kerri is also certified in Therapeutic Listening, Integrated Listening, and Interactive Metronome. She is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Alabama Occupational Therapy Association. In 2014, Kerri was awarded the Elsie Holmes McKibbin Lectureship Award by the Alabama Occupational Therapy Association for her contributions to the profession of occupational therapy in the state. Kerri was a member of the class of 2016 “Top 25 Excellence in Business”, awarded by the UAB Alumni Society. As co-owner and director of the company, her passion is to make Child’sPlay Therapy Center a place where children thrive and families know we genuinely care!
